Maths (Quick Write)

What Is problem Solving?

What Is Problem Solving? Well Problem solving is when you use strategies to solve your math equations or using big and small numbers. Math’s happens all around, EG: If you don’t know what flight you're going on and you have to email or ring the them up you have to solve a way to see what has happen to the information they had to send to you that’s pretty much solving a problem or a solution to your Problem here is some of the things that you use solving in.

You use solving at crime scenes, building, air plane tickets, school, sports such as how far you're going to kick the ball. Also Problem solving is Using strategies,Big numbers,Small Numbers,Using critical maths skills and looking for answer you can’t find.


Today for writing we had to write a paragraph tell us about what is Problem solving? And does it only happen in maths?. Maths doesn't all ways happen at school at happens in many places such as a crime scene or building Example: When your building you have to solve how long or how wide the wood should be like 6cm+6cm of wood is 12cm.

NZ Flag DLO


Today the whole school had to vote for a flag. In Room 5 we had to do 4 minutes of reading about the information about the 5 flags and choose which one was your favourite. The one I voted for was the silver fern (Red,white and blue) I chose this flag because it really stands out to me and its part of my culture it also says that the silver fern means bringing all the multi culture people together. In 3 Minutes we had to find a buddy and talk about why we chose that flag, My buddy was Jacob he really liked the silver fern (Black and white) Because it was apart of his culture and the history behind it. In 2 minutes we had find a group of 4 and tell us about why they choose the flag most of the people in my group chose the (Red,White and blue) Silver flag they said is was like the Old New Zealand flag and it represents cultures. In 1 minute we had to make a Collaborative DLO about how to choose a flag and many other things.

Working with my critical friend

Today Room 5 and Room 6 did some writing and we had to  find out how does your critical help you? and How does the rubric help you with your writing. Me,Juliano and Joshua we were thinking about the question it was really challenging but we manage to find the answer. The question was how does a critical friend help you? Well we all said that a critical friend helps you improve on your writing and makes you fix any that wrong or that could tell what you did right.

Science at tech


Today Room 5 and Room 6 went to Tech. After the year 8's did digital Tech we went to science for the first time. I was really existed we split into 2 classes and started to learn about things we didn't really know about the things such as the physical world. I got really confused doing science I didn't know what to do our teacher from science her name was Miss Bunts she was a really kind teacher that tought us so many stuff and next we were going to learn 2x the learning then this week. At the end of the day we had a little challenge if you got it right you would get a chocolate. I really loved science I hope that we learn a lot more.

Buddy Task DLO


Today me and my friend Ohsmar made a DLO about our book. Our book was about wheel chair rugby we learnt alot about this book and also learnt the safety rules. For this task we created a DLO using Google draw this task was really fun and I hope we do more fun task.

Music


For music we had to play a song called (The saints go marching in) It was really difficult finding the cords but I manage to get the hang of the cords it was a really good song it reminded me of ANZAC. The instruments that we played were xylophone and many more we had to work into 1 group of 4 and play the song me and Santat got a lot of help from Fine and Paige because we did really know the cords.

Homework 6 w's


This week for home work we had to share what we knowed about the 5 w's. I learnt that there is a 6 w's and its which I never really knew what which means so I had a look around our class room and found what it ment It means like choosing like a option or a choice to take EG: What road should I take left or right?

Basketball



Today Room 5 went to practise there basketball skills with coach Mark and coach Milli, We learnt  today how to pivot,stance,dribble and cup the ball. For warm ups we had to do relays and many others at the end we had to vs each other is our teams for the challenge we had to dribble the ball left to right and go around the chair it was really challenging but eventually we won thanks for coach Mark and coach Millie for teaching us some basketball skills.

Today we had to make a 7x Tables DLO to show the Strategy we know some of the Strategy's I know are really good such as skip counting and many more. I have learnt alot of knew strategy's to my 7x time tables.

Music

On Wednesday we had a practise of ukulele It was really fun we learnt some really difficult cords and also learnt how to pluck. Our favourite song we learnt was island because we had to pluck for the intro and at the end.

Sustain Silent Writing-By Raymond

Story
I looked at the house, wanting to check it out. When I walked there the door opened, I walked inside quietly and asked "Hello is anyone here?" no one replied. I had a look around, the lights turned off and on while I walked closer to the bedroom. Footsteps ran past me, a light shined from a window I could see the door. As I get closer I had a feeling someone was watching me. The door shut and I felt like something was crawling up my leg. I got really scared I had a look at my legs in was just a spider. I would  hate for it to be something like a skeleton arm.I Tried to open the door it wouldn't let me I knew something Was blocking the door, As I turned around all the curtains were pushed both sides of the end. I heard Water running It was a tap. I ask my self that was pretty strange I tried and tried to open the door. It opened some how? I ran out of the room and bolted like the wind back home I said to my self I'm Never going there again!!!

Today We had to do a silent challenge for writing. It was a really cool our challenge was not to talk. There was also a small challenge well doing this we had to work with someone our teacher decide to cool this challenge SSW which means Sustain Silent Writing. One thing I learned today was to read out out our story so you can hear the mistake and fix it.

Problem Solving Revision

Grid Challenge



Today we played a game called the grid challenge it helped us practise our times tables and also for that game we had to look for the arrays for our time tables. The least amount of  cubes left wins the game and the one who has the most cubes left loses. This Game is really good for learning your times tables and helping you skip count.When I played with my friend Zahn it helped us Learn much more of our times tables such as 4x 5x and also 6x.

Run,Jump,Throw


Run,Jump,Throw


Today Room 5 learnt how to do shot put and discus. It was really fun we learnt a lot for tips and tricks in shot put and discus. It was really challenging for some people, I tried my hardest to push the shot put far as I could.I was really proud of myself.


After  we practise our shot put skills we moved on to do discus it was really hard to hold we were practising to hold the discuss and try to spin it clockwise and also make out discuss go straight through the cones and also here is some tips on Shot put and discus.
Shot Put
  1. dirty fingers,dirty neck,clean palms.
  2. Chin-knee-toe all in a row.
  3. Low to high-watch it fly.

Discus
  1. Grip-shelf-should fall out if hold hand upside.
  2. 3rd knuckle
  3. bring down-swing up-clap-back-chin-knee-toe
  4. Low to high watch it fly fling it fast

Why is social media blocked at school?

Hello Pupils of PBS

I am here to talk about our rights and why we should be allowed to be on social media at school. How would you feel if you weren’t allowed on Facebook at school? Would you be devastated, or make a complaint to the school?

I believe that social media should be allowed at school. First of all, kids should be communicating with other such as friends and family. I think kids should be able to contact manaiakalani schools to see the work they have been doing. About 38% of kids go on social media everyday and also did you know that over 3 billion internet users is about 45% which is worldwide internet users on Social Media.






Imagine all the bored kids who couldn’t talk to their friends, How would you feel? If I could not talk to my friends I would be so depressed. Teachers should see how important this is too students, Facebook could also be use for many things such as showing the world or family members what work we have been doing.


If you don’t allow students to go on social media they would not be able to speak to friends and  family overseas and maybe different schools and here’s an example: if your mum was over seas and your school banned social media or you did not have a phone how would you be able to contact your mum?

I believe that schools should be allowed on social media at school. We will be able to talk and communicate with others. This is my opinion about social media at school.

Cross Country

This afternoon we did the fun run school it was really cool and we all tried our best at it some people in my class came first,second and first. When we started the race I was pumped up but when every one got to the hill every one was really tired and walked up the hill the teachers called it the death hill. When I went down hill the wind felt great it felt like heaven and also it was really mudy but alot of fun next year when I go collage I hope we can do a fun run school.

Run,Jump,Throw

Today we did Run,Jump,Throw we learnt how to do long jump and high jump. The skills we need to learn for long jump was swinging arms,bent knees,looking up and two feet landing and also the skills you need to know about high jump is slightly bent knees,run from angle - J shape,quick action,leading arm/leg and jump from side of lead leg.
